Our ingredients are really simple, exactly what you see printed on our packaging is what's inside (it's not our style to hide anything, or be sneaky).
It’s actually something we get asked a lot...'how can a product without preservatives last for 12 months?' We are so used to seeing preservatives in food nowadays that we assume if it's not there, foods don't last. In the case of dried fruits, or fruit snacks, preservatives are mainly used for keeping colours artificially bright - that's why our fruit snacks are not as brightly coloured as some others.
When you bake fruit, you bake off enough water to stop the product being unstable. The water activity level (which is the amount of free water cells able to react and is different to the moisture content) becomes low enough. This then means you have more fibre and roughage left behind too. That's why one of our snack packs are one of your five a day at 35g, but 80g of fresh fruit is one of your five a day – some of the water has been baked off but the entire fruit content remains. The water is what causes products to go off or ferment etc, so by lowering the water activity to the right level we can make pure fruit snacks without any nonsense ingredients. We also don't use concentrates which have much higher sugar levels and contain less natural goodness.
